COVID Safe Beach Road Trips

During the pandemic, it’s not always the safest to fly when you don’t have to or expose yourself to a lot of people in crowded places. That doesn’t mean that traveling has to be out of the question, though! With so many jobs working remotely, now can be the perfect time for that road trip you’ve been thinking about taking. We’ve compiled a list of some great beaches to road-trip to, now that the worst of winter is almost over.

Florida

If you’re lucky enough to live driving distance to the Florida beaches, it makes a great road trip spot. There are endless beaches throughout Florida, and we’ve found great ones that are less likely to be crowded. Our top picks would have to be Clearwater Beach on the Gulf Coast, Siesta Key, Naples, or any of the beaches in The Keys. Lay on the beach, go sailing in the clear water, or play a round of golf. We recommend renting a house on the beach and relaxing for the week. This newly renovated Airbnb in Siesta Key is absolutely stunning and even has its own private pool!

South Carolina

Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head Island are both great places to visit in South Carolina. Hilton Head is smaller and upscale with many golf courses, and usually the hotels and vacation rentals are closer to the beach. In comparison, Myrtle Beach is a bigger town with more shops and restaurants. If you’re staying in Hilton Head, we recommend The Inn & Club at Harbour Town, known as the number one resort on the island. If you’re headed to Myrtle Beach, our favorite is the Ocean Enclave by Hilton Grand Vacations because it’s right by the boardwalk.

Northeast

If you live in the Northeast, you are probably familiar with destinations like the Hamptons, and specifically, Montauk. While it’s a little cold at the moment to enjoy these East Coast beaches, you can still enjoy the beautiful scenery on a nature walk, venture to Montauk Point Lighthouse, or cozy up by the fire at this Airbnb cabin. It has floor to ceiling windows to watch the sunset and even has a private beach! If you can’t get away just yet, check out our Montauk Candle to transport you to the Atlantic surf, as well as our 7 Best Staycation Staples.

California

California is the ultimate road trip spot. Drive down the Pacific Coast Highway and stop at some of the many stunning beaches California has to offer. If you’re near San Francisco, check out Baker Beach for beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge. If you’re in SoCal, visit our personal favorites, Malibu Beach and Laguna Beach. We like them so much that we created our Malibu and Laguna scented candles based off of them. Our favorite spots to stay are Malibu Beach Inn and the Surfrider Hotel. Definitely stop at Coronado Beach if you’re in San Diego, and walk past the famous Victorian Hotel del Coronado.
