5 Lifestyle Hacks to be More Sustainable

It’s 2021. Everyone can be more sustainable. There are so many little things you can implement in your daily life to increase your sustainability. Let’s go over our top five life hacks that will make a big difference!

1. Use Less Plastic

This one could not be more obvious but it is still important! Instead of plastic bottles, opt for Hydro Flasks or any type of reusable water bottle. There are so many on the market and if you don’t own at least one, this is truly your sign to go get one! Similarly, plastic straws are sooo out. Invest in some metal or silicone straws. Get one in every color! Here’s a blog post by the New York times with the best water bottles on the market right now.

No. Not beer. Bring your own bag! Plastic bags are a big no no and tote bags are so trendy! Invest in a nice tote bag or a few reusable bags for multiple purposes. Obsessed with this blog post with lots of options for sustainable tote bags, even better! Reusable bags are perfect for shopping, going to the beach, running errands, and holding your essentials for the day to day.

3. Recycle Old Clothes

We love Lululemon’s new policy where they will give you gift cards in exchange for your old lulu. Keep this energy with the rest of your closet, lulu or not! So many more stores have this feature. Adidas for example accepts old shoes and clothing. Other places such as Plato’s Closet or Crossroads will also give you payment or store credit for your old clothes! Andddd there’s always Goodwill too!

4. Walk

I thank quarantine everyday for implementing into my brain that a day is not complete without a walk! Doing something for 21 days makes it a habit and walking is definitely something that has become a habit of mine, thanks to quarantine. Instead of driving to my local coffee shop, I chose to walk! Whenever you can, walk or bike to your destination. It is so good for you and the environment. Not convinced? Read this article all about it Walk, Tennis Shoes, Go for a Walk, golden hour walk, walk

5. Support Local Business

This is one of my favorite tips. Buying locally is amazing because you get fresh produce and you get to support your community. Beyond food, buying local food helps the local economy and puts money back into your community. There are so many reasons to buy locally and to shop small both. It will feel good and it will do good for your community!

As the world continues to evolve, we are always on the lookout for more subtle and big ways that we can become more and more sustainable.
